Yes. The head, horns and scales are sculpted in raised relief, not printed, so you can feel every ridge. The cover is rigid and made for display, so treat it like one: set it down gently and don't drop it on hard floors.
It's made to be used. The cream pages take the included dip pen and ink, the ballpoint, and most everyday pens. Like any journal, a very wet stroke of ink can show through, so tap the excess off the nib before you write.
Not at all. Dip the nib about a third of the way into the ink, tap off the excess, and write with light pressure at a low angle. Re-dip every few words. With five nibs to try, you'll find the one that suits your hand within a page.
